Granka

by admin

I consider myself quite blessed to have the parents I do!  Not only do they love me and my sister with everything, they love our husbands (the davids) and our kids!  My kids pick up on their love and have a fasination with them right back!  Last Saturday, when we got home from Texas we stopped by their house.  Lucas had a great time with Granka… from playing airplane to attacking his face with kisses… to even letting Granka give him his bedtime bottle and falling asleep right after.  Thank you Granka for all of your love!

Faces

On Lucas’ 7 month birthday like I mentioned he was not so happy… and I had the wrong lens on my camera so not only was I trying to get him to not cry I was doing it from standing on a chair … oh well.  One good thing is I got the best picture of his eyes and finally one of Madelyn where she is looking and doesn’t have her “cheesy two-year old” grin on!

7 Months Old!

by admin

Lucas is now 7 months old!  It is a bit hard to believe!  His reflux is still here and man does he give us some HUGE spit-ups!  There are not many days at all that I am not covered by the end!  But thankfully he handles it quite well.  He is still not a great napper… 30-45 minutes and the kid is up!  So I am still praying that those naps get a bit longer!  Here is what he is up to:

  • He is quite a big boy!  He is wearing 12-18 month clothes and is already in a size 4 shoe (M is only an 8)
  • When we were in Texas Lucas cut his first tooth… then his second the next day.  Which might have explained some of his screaming and unhappiness while we were there!
  • He is now for the most part sitting on his own!  I still place some pillows around him if I am not RIGHT there because every now and then he will just wobble and fall.  But he can finally sit in the shopping cart!  Mommy is quite happy!
  • He loves to jump still and will be quite happy to jump around in his jumperoo throughout the day.
  • He is starting to really hate to be alone and if he had his way would still love to be help all day.
  • I get the best kisses and hugs!  Love it!!
  • Being outside has really been quite calming for him lately.  If he is really fussy I just take him outside and it will normally calm him right down.
  • This boy seriously loves to eat!!  He has downed everything I have introduced to him!  Currently this week he is getting green beans, followed by carrots then chicken!

The day I took his picture he was not the happiest to say the least… so needless to say I didn’t get his fabulous smile but I figure at least he is not crying or rolling away :-)

Here are some other recent pictures!

And one of my favorites… the other day I set Madelyn’s sippy cup down in the stoller with Lucas… next thing I know he has it and is drinking her water… his face looked like he totally knew that she would flip if she saw (thankfully she did not)… I wonder if this is a sign of what is to come. :-)

Trip to Texas

by admin

A few months ago my dad found some great flight prices to Texas.  We had not been there since last May, so I was of course thrilled when David said he would come with me and the kids.  We had a great trip!  Lucas was a huge tropper on the plane down there!  Had quite a bit of trouble adjusting to sleeping in a new place but thankfully my sister was quite gracious with his screaming :-)   This trip was fabulous to see Madelyn really have fun with her older cousins!  She LOVED playing with them and talks about them all the time since we came back.  The three older ones sat in the back of Jenn’s van … one of my favorite parts of the trip was listening to them play hide-n-seek back there.  Yup all strapped in their seats playing hide-n-seek!

My sister is truely a fabulous mom!  She has three of the best kids I know and really does a wonderful job with them.  David is now five and seems so old to me!  I must say though he is so very sweet.  One day at the jump house David and Madelyn were climbing up this big stairpart to go down a huge slide.  Well Madelyn being her mother’s daughter was a bit slow making the big climb.  She got about 3/4′s of the way up and these much older kids were flying up behind her… I was nervous they were going to make her fall as they rudely tried to pass her!  Then David (who was already at the top) yelled down to the kids, “hey slow down – she is just a little girl give her time.”  How sweet of him to look out for M!

Reagan is 6 months older than M.  She was so gracious in letting M use all of her princess dresses and even sleep in her bed with her!  She has a great personality and Lucas thought she was fabulous.  I think that she enjoyed making him laugh!

Brynlee just turned one.  She is adorable and moving everywhere she can!  Every now and then her and Lucas paid eachother attention but not too much yet!  Brynlee loves her mom and is at the stage where other people will just not do.  But I had a very proud Aunt moment when Jenny left to pick up David from school and Brynlee not only let me hold her but I got several kisses too!!  Don’t worry I took a picture… I dont know if Jenny would have believed me if I didn’t!

Okay enough chatter… here are some pictures… Lucas for the first time in his big stoller…our jump house… out to eat… playing dressup… enjoying the splash park… and yes even getting stuck in the airport for HOURS!  Hope you enjoy the pictures.

6 Months Old

by admin

Okay I have a huge OPPS!  I was waiting to post Lucas’ six month post until we went to the doctor for his check-up… well we have had a super busy month and all the sudden I find myself on his 7 month birthday taking another picture and realizing that I completely missed the post.  So in the nature of being better late than never… here it is…

- At his six month appointment Lucas was 20lbs. 8oz. and 29.5″ long!  he was super cute to all of the nurses and Dr. Webster.

- His head is still quite huge and we had to give him a ultrasound and they found no issues at all!  Preaise the Lord… interesting both my kiddos had to have that and each time the tech said to me … “well it must not come from you – you have a small head.”  So I blame David :-)

- He is trying to sit on his own but not quite there all the way… it has to be hard with a big body and huge head on top to balance :-)

- He LOVES to eat and sometimes I find myself wondering if he is still an infant cause he would love to eat every three hours still!

- He is quite social and loves to smile.

- Our reflux is still an issue… and he cant quite seem to figure out that naps should be longer than 30-45 minutes!  We are working on that!

His 6 month birthday fell on Easter Sunday!  And in true fashion both my kids were not themselves and quite miserable!  Lucas was having quite a hard time with his reflux that day and Maddy – well she was being two!  But in the midst of it all I got my favorite Easter picture that I posted already and Madelyn thought that to make Lucas feel better about his picture she would lay down too… love her!  So here they are!

Easter Time!

by admin

This Easter was Madelyn’s first egg dying experience.  She was fabulous!  She is such a sweetie and in true Madelyn fashion kep everything neat and organized!  (My dream come true!)  She did however have a few meltdowns as usual when the dye dripped out.  I explained that is why we wear clothes that can get stained and use a table cloth… she sometimes really does crack me up.

Here are her finished eggs!  We did one with Maddy’s name and one for Lucas.

M tried to eat one.  She had forgotten that she did not really like hard boiled eggs – so I was hoping that she would like them this time around… no luck!

Easter morning was one for the books!  Not only did I want to take Easter pictures but it was also Lucas’ 6 month birthday. (Which will be in a later post as we go to the doctor’s next Monday!)  So I tried to be organized by having all of our clothes ironed and ready.  I even had our clothes ready to change after church and head to my Aunt’s house.  Well, good thing I did because that was the only thing that seemed to go right all morning.  Madelyn woke up not so happy and of course Lucas followed in suite screaming at me for over an hour at one point and nothing seemed to make him happy.  Needless to say I was thrilled to just get out of the house somewhat on time!  God blessed us with the last parking spot at church so we did not have to walk across the street!!  I was able to enjoy the contada – which was fabulous – and Lucas slept through.  Just for him to wake up screaming as Pastor started his message.  So when all else fails… grab M from nursery… put them in the car… get M some french fries to munch on and DRIVE till David is done with church!  Lucas was happy to be in the car and M was thrilled with her treat!  I have learned and am still learning to lower my expectations!  Well we did try a family picture at church… not so hot!  But in the midst of the craziness… another blessing… probably my favorite picture of the kids yet!  How adorable is this!?!

My Minnie

Madelyn lately loves everything Minnie Mouse and Princesses… the other day I found her like this!

Pop

by admin

On Tuesdays we go over to my mom and dad’s house for dinner.  Both Dave and I have really enjoyed our tradition.  Last Tuesday I had my mom take a picture of M and Pop playing.  Both Madelyn and Lucas are quite blessed with the most wonderful two sets of grandparents anyone could ask for.  And one thing I always want them to know is that they also have a legacy of fabulous great-grandparents as well.  Which we try to show them through having pictures up in the house.  As for my side they will only have the opportunity to meet one – my Pop.  Well Pop, for being 80 something years old (we won’t tell the exact details of your age :-) ) and laying on the floor playing with your 2 1/2 year old great-grandaughter – not too shabby at all!
